There is much talk these days of “unity” within religion. Cries for peace are joined with a mantra that states all religions actually worship the same God. Some would even say that we’re all eventually headed to the same eternal home, we just choose different routes to get there. Furthermore, this common day belief states that at its core Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and others are very much alike. With a belief in a “God” of some sort and a code of morality to live by. Are all religions the same? Do they all lead to the same place? The answer is: all but one. Every religion, apart from Biblical Christianity, leads directly to eternal Hell. And the idea that all religions worship the same God is a lie that comes from Hell. If you don’t know Christ, then you don’t know God the Father either.
Jesus taught, “He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” (John 5:25) The context of this statement was Jesus being confronted by angry Jews who insisted that they knew and loved God the Father, but they hated and rejected Jesus the Son. What Jesus makes abundantly clear is that the Father and the Son are inseparably linked and you cannot have one without the other. In other words, if you reject Jesus the Son, then you’ve rejected God the Father also.
During his days on earth, Jesus was much more than a man. He was more than a carpenter from Nazareth. He was eternal God who left Heaven, became human flesh, and dwelt among us. As “Emmanuel” (which means ‘God with us’); Jesus lived a life of sinless perfection, then He died a sacrificial death on the cross absorbing the eternal punishment from the Father on behalf of His sheep who rightly deserved it. And how are these sheep to be recognized in the world? By their repentant faith in Christ and their loving obedience to Him. The sheep (Christians) follow their Shepherd (Jesus). And they follow Him all of their days.
The Bible calls all sinners to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You might hear that call and ignore it. If so, you will spend eternity in Hell. Or you might respond to that call and turn from your sins; submitting your life to Christ’s Lordship. If so you are forgiven eternally; by the only one in the universe who can grant forgiveness. Only one road leads to Heaven. It’s a narrow road that few will find. It’s a road, named Jesus.
