Recently, Phil Robertson from the television show Duck Dynasty, caused quite a stir when he suggested that homosexuality was a sin and that homosexuals would not go to Heaven. Many in America were supposedly shocked that Robertson would have such “old fashioned” views. Many others were not so shocked, agreeing with Robertson's sentiments. Those who lashed out at Robertson might be further surprised to realize that his views came directly from the Bible. In fact, he was quoting 1 Corinthians 6 when giving his definition of sin. The Bible says, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) Of course the list includes much more than just homosexuals. It's just that in this day and age the homosexual community is considerably more militant than “thieves, the covetous, or swindlers.”
Another situation happened a few days later when Colorado State assistant football coach, Greg Lupfer lost his temper with an opposing player and used a “gay slur.” While I didn't watch the game, the clip I saw showed the coach minding his own business on the sidelines. While the opposing team's quarterback came over and began taunting the coach. Under those circumstance, a slight "loss of temper" might not be so surpising. I'm a Pastor, and I might have lost my temper and called the punk a "gay slur" too. But I shouldn't. And Coach Lupfer shouldn't. So what is the solution? Wouldn't you think a simple apology would suffice? Not in modern America. The coach was suspended without pay. Then required by his employer to attend “anger management” classes; and “diversity training” at his own expense. In other words he must submit to liberal brainwashing and bow his knee to the altar of homosexuality, or lose his job. All of this because he used ONE WORD that gays don't like.
In case you've missed it, America is no longer a free country. A man's personal opinion or religious belief must pass the test of the pro-gay, liberal elites. Or his life and career will be destroyed. Make no mistake, homosexuals are entitled to their opinion. But so are heterosexuals. And all the opinions in the world are nothing more than that....opinions. What truly matters is what God declares to be true. Homosexuality is a sin because God has declared it so. This is further proven by the fact that homosexual relationships are not capable (even theoretically) of reproducing. This is even further proven by the fact that homosexuality is very destructive to the human body because the reproductive organs are not designed to be mixed with digestive organs. Of course the modern medical community is too brainwashed (or intimidated) themselves to tell you this.
The problem of mankind is sin. It manifests itself in homosexuality and in myriads of other sins. But they are sins regardless of 21st century “re-definitions” and “re-educations.” Yet even in sin, there is still hope. After listing the sins, 1 Corinthians goes on to say: “Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (v. 11) Regardless of what sin you might struggle with, I encourage you to repent and believe upon Jesus. He is your only hope. The world will lie to you. America will lie to you. Only the Lord and His Word are consistently honest. Believe in Him today.
