What a blessing it has been to have the Tibbetts family with us this past week. We frequently pray for their work in Thailand, but to be able to spend time with them and learn more about what they do is a tremendous benefit for us. Hopefully our prayers for them will have a deeper fervency because of the bonds we have re-established in the past week. Here are some of the highlights…
…
…
On Saturday Night we had a pool party and cookout with the Tibbetts family. Approximately 60 people came out and enjoyed the food and fellowship. On Sunday Morning, Scott and Jennifer spoke to our grade school aged children during Sunday School and shared about what they do in Thailand. The kids were all given the name of one of the kids in Thailand and asked to pray for that child. In the Morning worship service Scott preached and brought a message on the “10 minas” from Luke 19. I think as Americans we have been given much by God. The question is what will we do with what we’ve been given. Are you investing your life in the Kingdom? We all have opportunities to serve and witness everyday. Are you taking advantage of those opportunities?
After church we had a dinner and then heard more about the Tibbetts work. We had the opportunity to see some video and ask questions about Thailand. On Sunday night, the Tibbetts shared with our Youth Group. They played a game with the kids that teaches them what its like to go on a mission trip, and what its like in Thailand. Kyle and Johnea learned to speak a little Thai, Shelby learned a lovely Thai dance, and several of the kids got a lesson on the realities of “jet-lag.” Maybe we can get the Youth to demonstrate what they learned on a Sunday morning sometime. I know Kyle would enjoy the opportunity to speak to us in Thai, and I'm certain Shelby would be thrilled to teach the church her Thai dance. Afterwards, the Tibbetts two oldest kids Matthew (age 15) and Joshua (age 13) shared with the Youth about what its like to be a teenager on the mission field. Jennifer led us in a hymn, “Take My Life and Let It Be” and had all of us seek the Lord’s face about what He wants to do with our lives. Mike and the Youth closed the night with some prayer time for the Tibbetts family.
In addition to all the "church stuff" the Tibbetts have got to do some other things as well. Football with the McKees, riding horses with the Umphenours, a movie with the Youth Group, VBS at the Baptist Church, and today Scott had the opportunity to meet the Governor of Kansas who happened to be having a meeting at the Pleasanton VFW. You never know what's going to happen in downtown Pleasanton America. By the way, I was there too. I've never voted for Kathleen Sebelius but its not everyday you get to meet the Governor, PLUS they had free coffee and donuts. I never miss an opportunity for free food.
Now back to the Tibbetts. We still have one more activity planned for Wednesday Night at 6:30 p.m. Come to the church where we will once again eat and spend some time hanging out with the Tibbetts before they leave early Thursday morning. Its not often we get to see them, so don’t miss this opportunity to learn from those who serve on the “front lines” of the Lord’s spiritual army.
ALSO, please remember Amber in your prayers this week. She has been in Nicaragua since Friday and is scheduled to be back in America on Saturday. Pray for her as she gets a taste of foreign missions this week.
Ahh...The first one to comment!
Yes, of course you would be there if they had free food!! Hehehehe....
I am pretty sure Amber is doing just fine...After all how could she not..With Arms at her side!! And her army of prayer warriors helps a lot too I'm sure..

Wow Alex! Not only are you the first to comment, you're probably the first to read it. Be Honest, you spend most of your day near the computer waiting for my latest blog don't you?....I didn't realize your buddy "Arms" was going to Nicaragua too. I'm sure he will protect them all with his "super-human" strength.
