I wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and prayers regarding the loss of our baby. Needless to say it came as quite a jolt to Erin and I, but we will carry on with the Lord's help. Our daughter Savannah has had nightmares the last 2 nights about dying so I think its on her mind, though she's probably not sure why. Early next week Erin will have to go into the hospital and deliver the baby by either natural means or surgery. After that the hospital will tell us the gender and then release the remains to the funeral home. I then plan to have a private burial at a cemetery here in Pleasanton. Its been a great help that the local funeral director is a good friend of mine, so he's helping me work through some details that I never thought I would have to deal with. I won't be preaching this Sunday. I can't imagine being in a service on Mothers Day while my wife is carrying our dead child in her womb, so we will be leaving town for a few days. I don't think I could preach a sermon right now if my life depended on it.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned in a sermon that "whatever drops you to your knees will draw you closer to Christ." As usual, God has given me opportunity to apply my own words to my life. Thanks again for your prayers.
Many Blessing to you all,
Shane Kastler
